‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ Game Show Gets New Sponsor, Returns September

Renowned television game show, ‘Who Want To Be A Millionaire’ organisers have confirmed the show’s return on September 3, 2017, having gotten new sponsor, ‘Airoplay’.

Part of the statement released by the organisers on Tuesday reads, “We are pleased to inform the general public that the popular family quiz program ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Nigeria’ will return to TV on the 3rd of September 2017.
“New season, new sponsors, whooping cash prizes to be won. Don’t miss any of the episodes.”
Airoplay will be sponsoring the show following giant telecommunication, MTN Nigeria pulled out. MTN reportedly backed out from WWTBAM due to challenges the teleco faced from the N330bn fine issued on the company by the Nigerian Communications Commission.

“It is the fine that was imposed by NCC that made them pull out of Who Wants To be A Millionaire. The company loved the programme and wanted it to air but that fine was too much for it. It was not WWTBAM alone that it dropped, so many agencies working with the company were also affected including its permanent staff; so it is not about the programme alone.

“Apart from that, its South African arm also has some little problem that it is facing. That is the reason. However, it is just a temporary thing, once it has settled, the programme would be picked again. It is coming back but for now, it is temporarily resting. In fact, it would air for its tenth year anniversary,” a source revealed to newsmen.

The ‘Who Want To Be A Millionaire’ game show aimed at enriching lots of Nigerians, started 13 year ago, 8 October2004 and hosted by popular, Frank Edoho who is however not confirmed to be making a comeback as the host for Season 14.
